Deer Stories

I am SO ready to kill something! (That didn't sound very pastorish, did it?) Anyway, with deer season opening on Saturday, let this be a place to tell your deer stories. Tell one now from years gone by or add you story from this year after it happens.

PS -- Anyone else getting the itch to wear blaze orange and let your facial hair grow???

I missed a big buck opening morning when I hit a branch 3 feet in front of my gun barrel. Only shot I had, other than a rabbit (which made a nice stew actually). On the last Friday of season, I put Sam out on a ridge near a lake and then I walked a cedar swamp. I drove out 7 or 8 deer and he shot two of them. We tracked them in the dark and had a good time. Just finished cutting and packaging in the wee hours of this morning. All told, we probably have about 120 pounds of meat. That should help the grocery bill this winter....
